(WIVT/WBGH) – New York State Police is reminding motorists that fleeing in a vehicle to another state to avoid a ticket or an arrest will not prevent Troopers from finding you.
On October 14, at approximately 5:45 a.m., a Trooper observed a Hyundai sedan following a vehicle too close on Interstate 81. The driver then failed to stop at a stop sign at the bottom of the exit 1 off ramp near State Route 11, then again at the intersection of Conklin-Kirkwood Bridge.
The trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the operator took off at a high rate of speed, traveling down several roads, continuing to make more vehicle and traffic infractions, and ultimately driving into the state of Pennsylvania.
With the assistance of the Pennsylvania State Police, Troopers were able to locate the vehicle and driver.
Darrow turned himself in at the State Police Binghamton barracks and was processed.
Darrow was issued traffic tickets ad well as an appearance ticket to the Kirkwood Town Court on November 5.
New York State Police say crossing state lines does not shield a person from legal consequences, it could potentially make charges even higher.
