The community remembered the Reverend Charles Kennedy and Mother Mary Beth Kennedy during a street naming on Thursday.
That ceremony took place in the 2100 block of German Street. The Kennedys were active members of the Erie community and international missionaries with the goal of spreading God’s love.

They also founded the Community Country Day School and the Community of Caring.
At the street naming, the community shared stories about the positive impact of their work.

“Ms. Kennedy was an Earth angel to me. She helped me when I got expelled from school. I was 15 years old, I got expelled and I didn’t have a school to go to, so she opened the doors and gave me the opportunity to do the right thing for the second time around,” said Shawnta’ Pulliam-Brown, a Community Country Day School alum.
Pulliam-Brown said that because Mother Kennedy gave her a second chance, she not only became valedictorian, but she went on to start a non-profit of her own called Nurturing Hearts, spreading that same love to the next generation.
