Pennsylvania senator calls on FEMA to release $600 million owed to hospitals

U.S. Sen. Dave McCormick is calling on FEMA to release nearly $600 million he says is owed to Pennsylvania hospitals and health systems. In a letter to the Department of Homeland Security, McCormick said hospitals expanded care, protected workers, and kept services running during the pandemic based on a federal promise of repayment, but that money never came. He said the unpaid funds have created financial strain, forcing some providers to take on debt and delay upgrades.
