Antonina Cerimele of Scranton Preparatory School
Q: What accomplishments are you most proud of and why?
A: Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve taken art classes at Drawn to Art Studio in Taylor. Painting is my outlet; it helps me to relax after a long day or to feel rejuvenated by creating something new. My greatest accomplishment is having my artwork displayed in the St. Joseph’s Art Exhibition this May/June! I am also proud of receiving this recognition from the Scholastic Superstar Program! It’s so rewarding to have my talents and academic accomplishments on display.
Q: Whom do you most admire and why?
A: I admire my parents the most because of all the sacrifices they’ve made to give me a better education. They are the most hardworking people I know, and they inspire me to reach for higher goals and to become the best version of myself possible.
Q: What were your most rewarding school or community activities? Why?
A: The SPARK Summer Service Program run through the University of Scranton and Scranton Prep last summer was by far the most rewarding week of my life. I, alongside other student leaders, helped educate kids on various topics, such as self-worth, healthy lifestyles, healthy vs. unhealthy relationships, and bullying prevention. When we went white-water rafting, I was able to teach the sweetest little girl how to swim for the first time. I will carry her smile with me forever!
Q: What do you do in your spare time?
A: In my spare time, I like to paint, read, and spend time with my friends and family!
Q: What are your plans after high school graduation? Why did you choose this path?
A: In the fall, I will be attending the University of Scranton for biochemistry. I’ll be part of the SJLA honors program there, as well. I chose this path for my future because I’ve always enjoyed STEM and want to continue exploring the sciences!
Q: What is your advice to younger students?
A: “Regret nothing, remember everything” — Laura Jean Covey. Try out for that sports team, join that club, make new friends, or start a new hobby. These years fly by so quickly. Make the most of every second, and don’t forget to enjoy the ride!

A little about Antonina Cerimele
Antonina Cerimele of Scranton Preparatory School is an artist and academic standout who is described as intellectually driven, creative, self-aware and compassionate.
The Pittston resident is the daughter of Marianne Cerimele and Anthony Cerimele.
She is the social media manager for student council and a member of the National Honor Society, student council, the cupcake club, the Society of Influential Women, the Spanish club and the climate change awareness club. She also teaches summer art classes at a local studio for younger students. She is a peer tutor who volunteered with Teen Impact and the SPARK program at the University of Scranton.
