SPORTING HILL, Pa. (WHTM) — Pennsylvania now has nearly six dozen new state troopers.
The Pennsylvania State Police welcomed 69 new troopers at Friday’s graduation for the department’s 175th Cadet Class.
The graduation ceremony took place at LCBC Manheim in Rapho Township and follows six months of intensive training at the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in Hershey.

“For approximately the last six months, members of the 175th Cadet Class demonstrated remarkable leadership, determination, selflessness, and commitment to complete the Academy and earn the rank of Trooper,” said Lt. Col. George Bivens, acting commissioner of the Pennsylvania State Police. “I am beyond proud to officially welcome this dedicated group of women and men to our PSP family, as they prepare to join our mission to keep our communities safe and uphold the law across the Commonwealth.”
Four cadets received special awards at Friday’s ceremony.
Trey Quinones received the American Legion Award and the Colonel Ronald M. Sharp Leadership Award; Cole B. McAnulty received the Gesford High Pistol Award and the Daniel F. Dunn High Scholastic Award; Thomas T. Bolesta received the John K. Schaefer Memorial Award; and Colonel Paul J. Chylak Memorial Driver Proficiency Award.
The graduates will report to their troop assignments on Tuesday, May 26.
