Gerrit Cole is expected to continue his rehab assignment with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Saturday night against the Syracuse Mets at PNC Field in Moosic. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
The 2023 American League Cy Young Award winner has made five rehab starts so far as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery last March. In his most recent start Sunday for Somerset, Cole threw 77 pitches across five innings while striking out eight batters. Yankees manager Aaron Boone has told reporters Cole could need one or two more rehab appearances before returning to the major league roster.
