Pittsburgh Pirates celebrate young cancer survivor at PNC Park

THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS. ALL RIGHT, MIKE, THANK YOU. TODAY, THE PITTSBURGH PIRATES CHARITIES PARTNERED WITH THE LOCAL NONPROFIT LENDING HEARTS, TO GIVE A YOUNG CANCER SURVIVOR A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE ON HOME FIELD. TEN YEAR OLD PENELOPE AND HER FAMILY ARE CELEBRATING HER REMISSION FOLLOWING AN EIGHT YEAR CANCER JOURNEY. TODAY AT PNC PARK, PENELOPE WAS JOINED BY FRIENDS AND FAMILY TREATED TO CUSTOM PIRATES GEAR, A TOUR OF THE STADIUM AND THE CHANCE TO HANG OUT ON THE FIELD DURING BATTING PRACTICE WITH PIRATES PLAYERS AND COACHES. Pirates Charities partnered with local nonprofit Lending Hearts to give a 10-year-old cancer survivor a unique experience Friday night at PNC Park.Penelope was treated to custom Pittsburgh Pirates gear, a tour of the ballpark, and a chance to hang out on the field during batting practice with the players.To cap off a special night, the youth softball player threw out the first pitch before Pittsburgh’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies.Penelope and her family are celebrating her remission following an eight-year cancer journey.“She was resilient through the whole process, smiling and giggling, and she came out a fighter and very successful, and she deserves everything she’s gotten today, I believe,” said her mother, Kylie Kidder.Looking for more news in your area | Subscribe to the WTAE YouTube Channel

Pirates Charities partnered with local nonprofit Lending Hearts to give a 10-year-old cancer survivor a unique experience Friday night at PNC Park.

Penelope was treated to custom Pittsburgh Pirates gear, a tour of the ballpark, and a chance to hang out on the field during batting practice with the players.
