Several people were arrested at a northwest Reading home late Saturday after officers responded to a noise complaint and were confronted by an increasingly aggressive crowd as they attempted to speak with the homeowner and issue a citation, police said.
Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Weiser Street shortly after 11 p.m. for a report of loud music coming from the residence.
According to court records:
Officer Kyle Rankin reported hearing music from a block away as he approached the property. When he reached the gate to the backyard, several people confronted him and demanded to know why he was there. Rankin told them that he was investigating a noise complaint and asked to speak with the homeowner.
A man stepped forward claiming to be the owner. He was later identified as Raudy Rosario‑Alcantara, 30. Rankin told him that he needed identification because the homeowner would be cited under the city’s noise ordinance. Rosario‑Alcantara refused to provide identification.
As the crowd became louder and more hostile, Rankin called for backup.
Police said Rosario‑Alcantara stood behind others who were yelling at officers and encouraged them not to cooperate while shouting profanities at Rankin.
Two other residents — Eury Ramirez‑Alcantara, 35, and Enman Rosario‑Alcantara, 37— were also yelling over the gate and urging others to refuse commands. Officers noted that Ramirez‑Alcantara was pacing in front of the gate in an overtly aggressive manner.
When officers tried to enter the yard, a non‑resident — Jameson Petit, 26, of Dennis Drive — slammed the gate on an officer’s hand. Petit was ordered to step aside but refused. After repeated warnings, officers deployed a Taser and took him into custody.
Inside the yard, another resident, Tomas Ramirez‑Alcantara, 42, was arrested after officers saw him pushing people, including an officer, as police tried to gain control of the scene. Police said he assumed a fighting stance before being tackled and restrained.
The disorder continued inside the residence, where officers found Enman Rosario‑Alcantara fighting with others. He was taken into custody as well.
All defendants were arraigned Sunday before District Judge Carissa L. Johnson in Reading Central Court and released on $5,000 bail each. They await hearings on charges including disorderly conduct and obstructing the administration of law.
