A 35-year-old Throop man posted messages on social media threatening to kill State Sen. Marty Flynn, D-22, Dunmore, and local business owner Steve Masterson, police said.
On Monday, county detective Harold Zech received information regarding the threatening statements posted on Facebook by a user operating under the name “Jimmy Goble,” according to a criminal complaint.
A review of the profile revealed multiple public posts and comments containing violent rhetoric, threats of homicide, and erratic statements, police said.
One post stated that Goble was “going straight after Marty Flynn and Steve Masterson” and “the moment I become homeless … I will kill them both,” according to the criminal complaint.
The same post said Goble would “look up both of their addresses for the future,” police said.
Further review of the Facebook profile showed uploaded photos and documents appearing to identify the account holder as Jimmy Lee Goble — including a trespass warning document listing a Throop address associated with Goble, investigators said.
The profile also listed a date of birth for Goble consistent to records known to investigators, police said.
Additionally, police learned Goble was previously investigated by Dunmore police for erratic behavior after being terminated from a local business, according to the criminal complaint.
Police charged Goble, 2 Olendike St., with terroristic threats and harassment.
Bail and preliminary hearing information was unavailable Monday.
