The Erie County Community Health Center and Erie County Health Department recently announced the official opening of the Margaretta School-Based Health Center, according to a news release.
This new facility, located at the Margaretta Local Schools Board of Education Office, 305 S Washington in Castalia, is designed to provide students, staff and the surrounding community with convenient access to high-quality health care, the release said.
By placing medical services directly within the school environment, the health center aims to reduce barriers to care, minimize time away from the classroom and support the overall well-being of the Polar Bear community.

“Opening this center at Margaretta is a major milestone in our mission to expand health care access throughout our region,” said Troy Chaffin, CEO of the Erie County Community Health Center, in the release. “We believe that healthy students are better learners.
“This partnership allows us to provide essential primary care and preventive services right where students spend the majority of their day, ensuring they have the support they need to thrive academically and personally.”
The Margaretta Schools-Based Health Center will offer a wide range of services, including routine physicals, immunizations, acute care for illness or injury, oral health services and mental health support, the release said.
“This project is the result of a strong, collaborative vision between the health department and the Margaretta Local School District,” said Peter T. Schade, Erie County Health commissioner, in the release. “We are committed to building a healthier future for Erie County, and that starts with our youth.”
As a Health Resources and Services Administration GOLD Quality award-winning organization for two consecutive years, the Community Health Center continues to prioritize excellence in clinical care and community outreach, the release said.
The Margaretta site joins a growing network of health center locations dedicated to providing comprehensive, affordable care to all residents, according to the release.
A ribbon-cutting and public open house will take place from noon to 4 p.m. June 25.
