ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The victim of a shooting at a McDonalds in Allentown succumbed to his injuries on Monday.
According to a press release from Lehigh County Coroner Dan Buglio, John Doe was pronounced dead on Monday, May 18 at 1:55 p.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Muhlenberg. The coroner says John Doe died as a result of gunshot injuries. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.
The decedent has been positively identified, and next-of-kin notifications have been made. However, the identity of the decedent is not being released at this time out of respect for the family, according to the coroner.
An autopsy will be completed at the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office & Forensic Center (LCCO&FC) to assist in determining the cause of death.
On Friday May 15, at approximately 9:10 p.m., Allentown Police officers responded to the McDonalds located at 1321 Union Boulevard for a report of shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers located a victim of a gunshot wound and gave first aid. The victim was transported to an area hospital by Allentown EMS to be treated for his injuries.
This incident is under investigation. Police say there is no threat to the community.
