DURYEA — Police in Duryea Borough say they charged Askia Anthony Riddick, 29, with assaulting a woman who was found with stab wounds to her legs on Sunday.
Police responded to a residence in the 100 block of Lackawanna Avenue after neighbors reported hearing children crying at about 6 p.m. A woman was found with injuries consistent with stab wounds to her legs, police reported.
Riddick was detained when he emerged from the house and charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and harassment. Riddick was further charged with violating a protection from abuse order.
Riddick was arraigned on Monday and jailed without bail at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.
The woman was transported to an area hospital.
Police from Dupont and Avoca assisted at the scene.
