FOUNTAIN HILL, Pa. – An Allentown man charged in a 2024 shooting and burglary at a Fountain Hill pharmacy has pleaded guilty.
Miguel Angel Martinez, 57, of Allentown, pleaded guilty Monday to charges of Conspiracy to Commit Burglary, Burglary and a misdemeanor charge of Possessing Instruments of Crime, according to a press release from the Lehigh County DA’s Office.
Officials say Martinez’s sentencing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. June 26. He faces a possible maximum sentence of 22 ½ to 45 years in state prison, according to the release.
Also charged in the case is David Montes Vazquez, 34, of Bethlehem. He is charged with felony counts of Conspiracy to Commit Burglary, Conspiracy to Possession of a Firearm Prohibited, Burglary, Receiving Stolen Property and misdemeanor charges of Conspiracy to Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Conspiracy to Make Repairs/Sell an Offensive Weapon, Conspiracy to Possession of a Weapon and Conspiracy to Theft by Unlawful Taking.
Authorities say Vazquez is scheduled for a status conference at 10 a.m. on May 28, 2026.
Around 9 p.m. on Dec. 25, 2024, Fountain Hill Police were called to a sounding burglar alarm at the Fountain Hill Pharmacy at 1049 Broadway.
Police arrived and saw two men in the store, later identified as Martinez and Vazquez. According to the DA, one of the men pointed a firearm at a Fountain Hill officer who opened fire but did not hit either defendant.
Allegedly several gunshots were fired by Vazquez, but no one was injured by any of the gunfire.
However, two gunshots fired by Vazquez from inside the pharmacy are said to have entered a nearby occupied home located at the 1000 block of Broadway in Fountain Hill.
Residents were ordered to stay inside their homes during a standoff.
Both defendants eventually surrendered to police.
Police say both men broke into the building, spray painted surveillance cameras while inside and stole medication.
