SPRING TWP., Pa. – A fundraiser on Monday night aimed to help the fire company and the families of two fallen Berks County volunteer fire chiefs.
Texas Roadhouse in Spring Township is donating 100% of Monday’s proceeds to the Walnuttown Fire Company to benefit the families of Chief Jeff Buck and Assistant Chief Robert Shick.
The men died when they were hit by a car while operating an off-road vehicle near Route 222 in Richmond Township last month.
It happened while they were searching for a missing person.
“These men put their lives on the line every day and eventually lost their lives in the line of duty. Just to be able to do something so small for something so big, it’s an honor,” said Helena Wawrzyniak, local store marketer.
A bingo game to benefit the families is planned for Saturday, June 20 at the Topton Fire Company.
