ERIE, Pa. (WKBN) — A Youngstown man who was one of 15 people indicted last week in federal court for selling drugs in Erie, Pa., could be sentenced to 40 years in prison if convicted.
Luis Serrano-Mojica, 34, pleaded not guilty Monday at his arraignment before U.S. Magistrate Judge Richard A. Lanzillo to one count of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.
Bond was set at $10,000.
A new court date has not been set yet. The case has been assigned to U.S. Judge Susan Paradise Baxter.
U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania Troy Rivetti announced the indictments Monday.
Rivetti said in a news release that the 15 men, who are from Erie and Western New York, were indicted following an investigation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Serrano-Mojica is the only defendant from Ohio. He was arrested after the indictments were handed down Thursday.
The indictment in the case is short on specifics, but charges the 15 with conspiring to sell and selling drugs in the Erie area since October.
The government is also looking to seize over $102,000 in cash, including over $63,000 at an address in Erie and the rest from two addresses in Jamestown, N.Y.
