CATASAUQUA, Pa. – Pennsylvania State Police say they are investigating the report of an “unknown explosive device” being thrown from a vehicle near a polling location in Catasauqua, Lehigh County Tuesday.
There was some “sort of explosion” near the vehicle in the area of the Salem United Church of Christ, which is a polling place, Trooper Nathan Branosky said in a news briefing Tuesday morning.
State police say nobody was injured and there is no threat to the public.
State police were seen entering a home in the block where the incident happened.
County dispatchers said crews were called to the 600 block of Third Street around 9:12 a.m. Police tape was set up in the area.
Canine resources, police, and fire crews responded to the scene, according to Branosky.
If you are voting at Salem UCC, make all entrances from 4th Street, according to a Facebook post from the Catasauqua Fire Department District 2.

In the news briefing, Branosky said all polling locations remain open, and that state police are encouraging people to go out and exercise their right to vote.
Branosky said the investigation is underway, and that authorities are seeking to conduct search warrants.

People attending a funeral at Brubaker’s Funeral Home are asked to utilize Third Street from Chapel Street, fire crews said.
