ALLENTOWN, Pa. – It’s a day when political heat becomes literal.
“We need to be here. This is part of the job.”
For this State Rep. candidate, on her first Pennsylvania Primary, that means, despite mid 90’s temps, greeting voters till polls close.
“The water you need to live right? But without the right candidate, you won’t even be able to afford the water,” said a supporter at the North Whitehall polling location.
Luckily, Joeseph Stemrich can and his cooler is packed with cold water bottles.
The proud uncle stood outside Allentown’s AG Hall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in support of his nephew, finding shade, and relying on fashion to stay cool.
“Dip these in the cold water. You take them out and you put them around your scarf like that, and it really goes a long way to keep it cool and comfortable throughout,” Stemrich explained.
For some voters, like Marie Kolsako, discomfort is simply part of the participation.
“I watched the movie about women’s rights to vote and what women went through to get this privilege, so I vote every time,” she said.
