Amidst your summer and fall planning, whether it be for a week at the shore, a trip abroad or a camp for your child, all of these experiences take up spots on the calendar that begin filling up quickly.
Something to keep in mind is the abundance of fairs and festivals that have a deep history in our region, like the Berks County Fair, which will be holding its 172nd edition in July. But there are others that are brand new or off the beaten path.
Whether you’re into animals, agriculture or airplanes; have a love of local history craftsmanship and contests; or simply need a funnel cake fix, there are fair and festival options to satisfy all of the above.
Since most festivals offer a great time for all ages, they also serve as an ideal way to reconnect as a family in the middle of all of the comings and goings of summer activities.
Whether it’s a favorite food, a favorite ride, or an opportunity to learn something new, fairs and festivals offer a wonderful way to support your community by attending them, while also serving as a way to connect with neighbors you might not otherwise see and a chance to say thank you to volunteers who might help to make the fair become a reality.

Mid-Atlantic Air Museum’s 35th annual World War II Weekend
About: WWII Weekend is in its 35th year of existence, and serves as the main fundraising event for the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum. Your attendance allows them to continue in their mission to enhance the publics’ appreciation and understanding of the Mid-Atlantic region’s vast aviation history

32nd Annual West Reading Art on the Avenue
About: Art on the Avenue is one of Berks County’s premiere art and music festivals, The event is rain or shine and showcases the work of local and regional artists, crafters, vendors, West Reading businesses, musicians and other talents. The entire festival, spanning four pedestrian-friendly blocks and boasting upwards of 200 vendors, is free and open to the public. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Berks Celtic Festival
About: The event is a celebration of Irish and Celtic culture.

Eastern PA Homestead Festival

Reading Pride Celebration
About: Reading Pride is a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting the LGBTQ+ community and allies in Berks County. While best known for Berks Pride Fest — the oldest and largest Pride festival in the region — the organization’s work happens year-round through programs that promote visibility, connection and support.
