BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — A Philadelphia man is in custody for an alleged shooting at a township hotel late last week, police said.
Bensalem Police responded at 9:11 p.m. on Thursday to the report of an armed suspect and a shooting at the Knights Inn Motel on Route 1.
Police spoke with the caller, who stated that something had struck and shattered the rear side window of his vehicle while he was driving through the parking lot.
Another witness said that he saw a black man fire two shots from a gun while standing in the parking lot, police said.
Bensalem Police discovered that the shooter returned to Room 185 at the motel, which was registered under the name of Steven Kilcrest, 38, of Philadelphia.
While police were gathering information, Kilcrest exited the hotel room unarmed and was detained by police.
Police recovered a .40 Cal. Hi-Point Semi-Automatic handgun from the room and two spent shell casings from the parking lot.
The handgun had a live round in the chamber and an additional five rounds in the magazine, police said.
A search revealed that Kilcrest was prohibited by law from possessing a firearm.

He was arraigned by District Justice Brian Marriott and remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $500,000 bail.
