Lehigh County Coroner Dan Buglio said two men died Tuesday in their homes due to heat-related causes.
A 78-year-old Washington Township man was pronounced dead Tuesday at 5:56 p.m. at his residence, Buglio said in a news release.
A 76-year-old Allentown man was pronounced dead Tuesday at 6:41 p.m. at a local hospital, Buglio said.
For both men, the cause of death is hypothermia, and the manner of death was ruled an accident, according to the news release.
Buglio said both men were exposed to extreme heat conditions within their homes.
Buglio said he is withholding the names of the two men out of respect for their families and loved ones.
“By sharing this information, my hope is to raise awareness of the dangers associated with extreme heat and encourage residents to take preventative measures that may help save lives during the upcoming summer months,” Buglio said in the news release.
“I encourage everyone to remain mindful of the dangers associated with extreme heat. Each year, heat-related illnesses and deaths occur, some of which are preventable.”
