Logan Lombardo of Clarks Summit easily defeated David Burgerhoff of Scranton in Tuesday’s primary for the Republican nomination to challenge incumbent Democratic Rep. Bridget Malloy Kosierowski of Waverly Twp. in November.
With 163 of 163 precincts reporting countywide, a portion of which are in the 114th House District of the state House of Representatives, Lombardo received 1,673 votes to handily defeat Burgerhoff, who got 860 votes, according to unofficial results posted by the Lackawanna County Board of Elections. Lombardo garnered 65.25% of votes cast, while Burgerhoff received 33.54%. There also were 31 write-in votes, or 1.21%
Lombardo thanked Republican voters for nominating him to now go on to challenge Kosierowski in the fall election.
“I am so grateful for all the people who came out and voted today and I am especially grateful for all the support I received,” Lombardo told The Times-Tribune.
Lombardo, a technician, unsuccessfully ran in 2025 for Clarks Summit Borough Council.

Kosierowski ran unopposed in Tuesday’s primary election for the Democratic nomination in the 114th District, which includes Benton Twp., Clarks Green, Clarks Summit, Dickson City, Greenfield Twp., North Abington Twp., Scott Twp., parts of Scranton, South Abington Twp. and Waverly Twp. She received 7,044 votes.
A longtime registered nurse, Kosierowski won a special election for her seat in 2019, following the death of state Rep. Sid Michaels Kavulich.
She then won her first full term in 2020 by defeating Republican challenger James May. Kosierowski then won reelection in 2022 against Burgerhoff, by garnering almost 63% of the vote that year.
She was reelected again in 2024, when she didn’t face a Republican challenger.
A state House of Representatives term is two years and the annual salary is $113,591 per year.

Burgerhoff, a sole proprietor, also had lost a bid for a 113th state House District seat against then-Rep. Marty Flynn in 2016, when that district included all or parts of North Scranton, South Scranton, West Scranton and Green Ridge, South Abington Twp. and Clarks Green. Redistricting in 2022 put Burgerhoff in the 114th District. Burgerhoff also ran unsuccessfully for Scranton City Council in 2015 and Scranton School Board in 2023.
