On May 26 from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. The Sight Center will host a Discovery Session at the Booker T. Washington Center Gymnasium in Erie.

This new program had been launched in January through the Diverse Erie grant and has been connecting residents with various resources and opportunities in efforts to improve health and well-being.

The discovery sessions are an open opportunity for individuals to learn more, get involved, and take the first step toward lasting lifestyle change. As Type 2 Diabetes is the leading cause of vision loss in adults, these sessions serve as a way for adults to navigate the obstacles faced with these medical challenges and lead them in the right direction.

The upcoming session will allow participants to meet with the program’s team, learn about available services, and enroll in any upcoming events led by trained lifestyle coaches.

The Diverse Erie initiative is working to expand equal access to Diabetes Prevention services while empowering those with Diabetes with tools so they can live healthier lives while working to preserve their vision in the future.
