Three rescued after incident in Lake Erie near Kelleys Island Tuesday

United States Coast Guard crews rescued three people from the water near Kelleys Island Tuesday evening.

According to a social media post made by the USCG Great Lakes, crews at the station on Marblehead were dispatched to Kelleys Island at 6:36 p.m. after receiving reports of a person in the water.

Crews arrived on scene and rescued two people in the water before transferring them to the shore on Kelleys Island, where EMS personnel were waiting.

There was still a third person unaccounted for in the water, the Coast Guard said. Using a Dolphin helicopter, additional crews launched and located the third person, who was still treading water.

Crews aboard a towboat vessel rescued the third person in the water and transferred them to EMS care.

The conditions of the three persons were not mentioned in the post, nor were the circumstances leading up to the persons in the water.
