New pickleball, basketball courts opened at Nay Aug Park

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The ribbon was cut Wednesday on a brand new outdoor multi-court facility at Nay Aug Park in Scranton.

The area features eight pickle ball courts and two basketball courts located next to the Nay Aug community room.

The courts are also near the new pool at the park, which will open for the first time later this summer.

Park officials say the new outdoor facility can help bring new programs to Nay Aug.

“The nice thing about this footprint is it gives us the ability to expand our programming, so perhaps have some pickleball clinics up here extend some basketball, lessons things like that and get more kids involved so they are doing more healthy positive thigs so they have nice fun things to do,” Dana Force, Director of Scranton Parks and Recreation.

The million-dollar complex was made possible through a grant and the city’s Capital Budget Fund.
