1. Pittsburgh Vintage Mixer at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center: Nov. 7 & 8
If your vibe is retro, this event will rock your world and your wardrobe. Pittsburgh’s largest vintage and antiques fair returns for its 18th season with 100 vendors who will wow “anyone with an appreciation for the charm of yesteryear.” Hunting for a kitschy aluminum Christmas tree? Need a polyester frock for all those holiday parties?
With quality goods and unique artifacts spanning “every decade and retro era,” the thoughtfully curated PGH Vintage Mixer will connect you with your favorite keepsakes. Here you’ll find all kinds of throwback treasures, from midcentury modern furniture, rare collectibles, retro fashions and home décor to eclectic accessories, vinyl records, pop culture memorabilia and chic jewelry. You’ll feel good supporting reuse and not buying items that end up in a landfill. Hate crowds? Get first dibs on the fab finds at the “Night Owl” pre-party (advance tickets required) on Nov. 7. 2. AFRICANISM Gala at Heinz Hall: Nov. 8
NYC has the coveted Met Gala, but Pittsburgh is home to AFRICANISM, where international visionaries will gather in the Cultural District. Teaming up with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, FashionAFRICANA presents this immersive evening celebrating “the transformative power of Black women” with couture, film, orchestral performance and philanthropy. The curated gala kicks off with a star-studded red carpet, followed by the U.S. premiere of Simon Frederick’s film, “The Unspoken Elegance of Stillness: A Love Letter to Black Women.” The film’s score, composed by Grammy-nominated composer Carlos Simon, will be performed live by the PSO.
Gala-goers will be treated to an after-party featuring DJ Adapta and the Thomas Wendt Trio. Author Damon Young will read an original letter to Black women created exclusively for the event. Bringing together creatives, athletes and cultural leaders, the multidisciplinary event will also will recognize the 2025 AFRICANA Icon Award winners: Olympic and WNBA champion, philanthropist and McKeesport native Swin Cash and international model and cultural ambassador Fatou Jobe. Proceeds benefit the AFRICANA Initiative, which provides educational experiences for youth. Tickets.

3. EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler & 10K: Nov. 9
It’s scenic to drive across Pittsburgh’s bridges but it’s an exhilarating thrill to cross them by foot. Lace up and join what’s expected to be a record-breaking number of participants — more than 5,500 runners from 33 states and four countries — for this quintessential fall event. Boasting the best race views in town, our region’s very own “tour de Burgh” has a vibrant energy for runners and spectators alike.
Kicking off near Station Square, the 10-mile course crosses three of Pittsburgh’s iconic yellow bridges and travels through the West End, North Side and Strip District. The 10K course starts on the North Shore near PNC Park. Both routes culminate at the same dramatic Downtown finish line on Liberty Avenue. Runners ages 12 to 85 will take part, with 12 elite athletes competing to win their share of the $11,000 prize purse. Returning in 2025 is the 10K Walking Division, welcoming participants of all paces. With lively cheer zones and rousing bands, inspiring vistas and an adrenaline-pumping finish, all runners and walkers will feel motivated. Register.

4. Three Rivers Film Festival at Hollywood Theater, Harris Theater, The Lindsay Theater and Pittsburgh Playhouse: Nov. 12–23
Courageous school librarians fighting book bans. A father and son on a desperate search through the deserts of southern Morocco. The life and legacy of legendary musician Paul McCartney. These are just some of the transformative stories coming to the big screen during the 44th annual Three Rivers Film Festival. Presented by Film Pittsburgh, this year’s festival showcases 23 features and 113 shorts in-person and online, including East Coast premieres. The dynamic lineup is augmented by Q&As, panels, parties and the fifth annual Filmmaker Conference. Local cinephiles have a lot to be excited about because 3RFF kicks off at the newly remodeled Hollywood Theater with “Horsegirls.” Opening Night festivities include a red carpet hosted by Chancelor Humphrey of Keep Pittsburgh Dope, a director Q&A and a reception.
Another highlight is “About Face: Disrupting Ballet,” a documentary about Asian dancers challenging racial stereotypes within the world’s leading ballet companies. Directed by Duquesne University graduate Jennifer R. Lin, the film features Altoona native Georgina Pazcoguin. Keep the spooky season going with the Chiller Theater event honoring Pittsburgh’s own broadcast icon Chilly Billy Cardille. 5. Gallery Crawl in the Cultural District: Nov. 14
Fall nights are idyllic for strolling the streets and discovering the Downtown art scene. Find everything that’s new when this multi-venue “open house” returns with five hours of free programming. The lively night in the city spotlights Pittsburgh’s dynamic arts, cultural and entertainment offerings, along with local food vendors and independent businesses. There’s so much to experience spanning all art forms, so look for the sidewalk signs identifying participating locations.
Not to miss at 820 Gallery is “Frank Lloyd Wright’s Southwestern Pennsylvania: The Pittsburgh Projects.” From a monumental reimagining of the Point to a self-service garage for Kaufmann’s, the compelling exhibit documents animated videos of unrealized residential, commercial and civic projects designed by the legendary architect. Additional highlights include a retrospective celebrating 45 years of Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts School alumni and faculty at SPACE Gallery. Pop into Wood Street Galleries to experiment with an interactive musical playground, see free improv shows at Arcade Comedy Theater and visit 707 Gallery to explore Ben Schonberger’s multimedia exhibit exploring queer nightlife. 6. I Made It! for the Holidays at The Block Northway and The Galleria of Mt Lebanon: Nov. 15 & 22
One of Pittsburgh’s premier craft markets takes the stress — and the monotony — out of holiday shopping. These days, there are more reasons that ever to skip Amazon and the big box retailers and buy local. With newly expanded offerings, including multiple marketplaces and two dedicated retail locations, you’ll find all your seasonal needs from gifts to decor to sweet treats.
On Nov. 15, get a jumpstart on your holiday shopping at The Block Northway, where 120 artists will fill the mall’s South Corridor from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Head south on Nov. 22 to The Galleria of Mt. Lebanon to make a dent in that ever-growing gift list, with 90 makers spanning two floors from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The juried mix of handmade products includes everything from artwork, clothing, toys, wellness products and housewares, to ceramics, glass, jewelry, pet treats and food. Both events are free, family-friendly and offer free parking. Information.
7. An Enchanted Winter’s Eve at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens: Nov. 21, 6:30 p.m.
Wander under the stars through glittering gardens, inhale the scents of fragrant blooms and meet whimsical topiary animals around every corner. No, this is not a storyboard form the latest Pixar animation film — it’s a magical gala at a Pittsburgh landmark. It’s also that one night every year when Phipps kicks off the holiday season in grand style — and you’re on the invite list. Watch the flames fly as Pittsburgh Glass Center makes holiday ornaments and cozy up to animal friends from Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium. Enjoy live music from River City Brass Band, Cello Fury and Pittsburgh Opera and see ice transformed into winter sculptures. The unforgettable evening culminates with a grand finale performance by the Three Rivers Ringers handbell ensemble. Tickets.
Be among the first to see this year’s highly anticipated Holiday Magic show. Step into a “Wild Winter,” to experience stunning new displays, enchanting scenes and radiant décor. Floral installations will burst with vibrant amaryllis, orchids and poinsettias. Meet topiary polar bears and watch perky penguins having fun throwing snowballs, sledding and building snowmen. Pose for picturesque holiday photos in front of a shining orb tree and glistening icebergs. Relax beside a cozy fireplace, discover an interactive clam shell and step outside where the Winter Light Garden transforms the night. Tickets.

8. Highmark Light Up Night in Downtown Pittsburgh: Nov. 22
Today we’re focused on making last-minute adjustments to our Halloween costumes and finalizing party plans, but soon it will be time to flip the switch and turn on the holiday glow. But first, a history nugget: Did you know that the very first Light Up Night was held Downtown on Nov. 21, 1960, and was reported to be the first of its kind in the country? All the details for this year’s Light Up Night festivities will be unveiled by the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership on Thursday, Nov. 6, at Heinz Hall, but for now, we have a few key updates to keep in mind. Due to ongoing construction in Market Square, this year’s Peoples Gas Holiday Market will temporarily relocate to various locations throughout the Cultural District. Installation of the charming chalets is now underway. A holiday favorite for nearly 15 years, the signature market runs from Nov. 21 through Dec. 24.
Light Up Night offers a mix of heartwarming traditions and new attractions, from dramatic tree lightings to gliding around the high-tech tree at The UPMC Rink at PPG Place to the culminating fireworks display. A main attraction since 1999, the colossal Pittsburgh Crèche is the only authorized replica of the nativity featured in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. Information.
9. Dazzling Nights at Pittsburgh Botanic Garden: Opens Nov. 28
Looking for a new family tradition, an out-of-the-ordinary date night, or a memorable adventure with friends this holiday season? While Pittsburgh Botanic Garden is one of our favorite places to visit throughout all four seasons, it’s quite a sight to behold in the winter. Back with more radiance to light up those gloomy Western Pennsylvania nights, the holiday attraction transforms 65 acres of gardens into a winter wonderland of immersive light and color.
Follow a mile-long path to visit 20 unique realms illuminated by thousands of twinkling lights, from a glittering tunnel of stars and a field of flickering flowers to a mesmerizing laser show. Don’t miss this year’s new features, like sipping hot cocoa in the aura of a 50-foot illuminated tree and seeing a kinetic installation fluttering above the lotus pond. Warm up inside the event center with delicious bites, wine and hot cocoa as you enjoy festive holiday music by the fire. Open through Jan. 3, 2026. Tickets.

10. Suite Life at the Kelly Strayhorn Theater: Nov. 29
Add some music to your Thanksgiving weekend with this annual holiday tradition. It’s that joyous November night when the historic East Liberty venue honors its renowned namesakes with a “fresh take on beloved standards.” Tap your toes, snaps those fingers and groove to Cuban beats while celebrating visionary Pittsburgh artists Billy Strayhorn and Gene Kelly. Musical maestro for the night is bandleader Hugo Cruz, who will reimagine their iconic works by incorporating Latin percussion. The exciting performance also spotlights direction by Pria Dahiya, lighting design by El Wolhardt and an all-star lineup of special musical guests. The festivities kick off with an exclusive VIP Soundcheck reception at 6 p.m., followed by the marquee event at 7:30 p.m. It’s one concert that won’t break the bank, because tickets are available on a “Pay What Moves You” basis.

11. Winter Warmer Beer Festival at The Pennsylvanian: Nov. 29
Drinking a beer on your couch is relaxing, but sipping suds inside a Beaux Arts landmark while wearing your PJs (you got that right) is a night to remember. Turning the Downtown jewel into a Burgh Beer Hall, the Winter Warmer showcases a mouth-watering variety of unique and innovative “cold-weather beers” freshly made for the season. There are more than 18 beer-makers to explore, from Strange Roots, Allusion Brewing, Cinderlands, Brew Gentlemen and Grist House, to Chimera Brewing, Four Seasons, Top Dog Cocktails and more. No beer fest is complete without sustenance, which is why Cold Friends Kitchen and Pittsburgh Smokehouse are serving up hearty bites. DJ Hoagie Dreams will keep spirits high spinning sounds for a “Jammy Jam dance party” with hundreds of your newest besties. We repeat: Your favorite pajamas are the official dress code, so get your hygge on as you sip and dance in comfort. Three ticket levels are available: Early Admission (5-9 p.m.), General Admission (6-9 p.m.) and Designated Driver.
