(WHTM) — A new initiative from the Pennsylvania State Board of Higher Education has taken the guess work out of a college education.
The agency unveiled interactive data dashboards on Thursday, breaking down enrollment, college costs, workforce demand and more for prospective students. It draws the data from federal and national systems.

“Am I gonna get a job after I finish? Well, we can’t say for sure, but we can say that there seems to be a lot of openings available if you were in, for example, the healthcare field in the central region,” said Greg Kienzl, director of information and strategic analysis with the agency.
Like all numbers though, these have their limits.

“They don’t tell us why we see the trends that we see or the variation that we see, but they allow us to begin a conversation based on information and evidence as opposed to anecdotal information or speculation,” said Kate Shaw, executive director of the agency.
