It’s time to break out your passport!
American Airlines has launched new nonstop flights to Budapest, Hungary, and Prague, Czech Republic, from the Philadelphia International Airport.
The company announced its new offering last August, stating that these flights would make American Airlines the only airline offering nonstop service to Budapest from the United States.
Service to Budapest and Prague kicked off on May 21, 2026.
The flights will operate on a Boeing 787-8 aircraft and tickets are available to purchase at aa.com or on the American Airlines app.
This is the third consecutive summer in which American Airlines has added new European destinations from PHL.
In 2024, American Airlines added service to Nice, France, and Copenhagen, Denmark, and in 2025, American Airlines added service to Milan and Edinburgh, Scotland.
“It’s a privilege to connect Philadelphia to the world with unparalleled access to more than 120 global destinations and we’re excited to strengthen our network with service to Budapest and Prague,” said American Airlines Vice President of PHL Operations Lakshman Amaranyaka. “These two cities are rich with culture and history, allowing customers to enjoy the world-renowned thermal bath and spas in Hungary, as well as the iconic medieval architecture of the Czech Republic.”
This summer, PHL is projected to welcome almost 9.4 million travelers from June through August, about a 6.3% increase over summer 2025’s 8.8 million guests.
Officials said July is expected to be PHL’s busiest month of the summer, with an estimated 3.2 million departing and arriving passengers.
In preparation for the increased number of travelers, the airport has made improvements, including new landscaping on the departures roadway, more renovated restrooms, bright electronic information displays in ticketing and across the airport, and enhanced holdroom seating areas with charging capabilities.
