Two Reading men are behind bars in connection with a large scale drug operation.

Federal, county and local authorities made the arrests in York on Wednesday. Berks County District Attorney John Adams said the men will be arraigned in Berks County.

“We executed numerous search warrants in the city of Reading and other search warrants were executed in other locations in York,” said Adams.

Jose Avila, of Buttonwood Street, and Ruben Morales, of Mulberry Street, are behind bars.

“This is a clearly a group of individuals who were distributing large amounts of cocaine, not just into Reading area, but also in areas such as York” said Adams.

York city police, Berks County detectives, and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) said they seized cocaine with a street value of $400,000, along with $70,000 and several guns: seven handguns, an AK-47, and an AR-15.

Adams said the investigation will continue and more arrests are expected.
