The head of the World Health Organization says the Ebola outbreak in Congo is “spreading rapidly.”
That’s what the director-general of the United Nations health agency announced today.
He also raised its assessment of the risk of getting Ebola in Congo from “high” to “very high.”
The chief said the death toll there is now up to 177, with almost 750 suspected cases.
Authorities in Congo banned funerals today to prevent the spread, and the United Nations has released $60-million dollars to aid the response.
The World Health Organization’s chief says the risk of the disease spreading globally still remains low.
