YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Swimming returned to Pennsylvania State Parks on Friday ahead of Memorial Day weekend.

That includes the popular swimming beach at Quaker Race Day Use Area in Gifford Pinchot State Park, the park announced. The campground beach also opened for the season, though it is for registered campers only.

Swimming is permitted from 8 a.m. to sunset at the park. The beaches are unguarded. Near the swimming beach, visitors will find boat rentals, picnic facilities, a snack bar and a children’s play area.

More than 30 state parks offer swimming. All children 10 years and younger must be accompanied by someone at least 14 years old. Pets are prohibited from swimming areas.
