(WHTM) — Whether you’re a novice, a tourist or just haven’t gotten around to buying a fishing license yet, Pennsylvania waterways are fair game this Memorial Day weekend.
The state’s annual Fish-for-Free Day, when anyone can fish without a license, returns on Sunday for residents and non-residents alike. Trout, salmon and Lake Erie permits are also not required on the day.

The Fish and Boat Commission advertises the day as a way for families to “catch” the fun of fishing.

But just because it’s free doesn’t mean it’ll be a free-for-all; rules and regulations still apply, the commission warned.
Sunday won’t be the only chance to fish without a license this year. The state will let freedom ring on July 4 with another Fish-for-Free Day.
