DICKSON CITY, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — On Saturday afternoon Dickson City residents came together to play some Bingo for a good cause.

Nearly 80 people came out to Veteran’s Promise 1st annual designer purse bingo. Featuring raffle baskets, door prizes, 50/50s, and bingo, players competed for luxury bags donated by local shops. Held in the Dickson City Community Center, players young and old had a great time knowing the buy in and any subsequent purchases all went to a good cause.

“All the proceeds go to Veterans Promise,” explained Veteran’s Promise president Peter Sehne. “We’re all volunteers here, so we’re nonprofit, we’re grassroots, so every dime goes to veterans a lot of people don’t know what we do. They say, ‘who is Veteran’s Promise?’ So that’s why we’re here.”

Veteran’s Promise is a local nonprofit that works to help raise awareness about veteran’s mental health. They offer support to families of veterans who have committed suicide and help to veterans with PTSD. Sehne said that due to the success of the event, their first bingo fundraiser won’t be their last.
