PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) – Patients at a Philadelphia dental practice are being urged to get tested for possible HIV and hepatitis exposure.
This comes after Dr. Kirti Chopra’s license to practice dentistry was suspended and her practice was shut down while health officials conducted an investigation.
“Our team went out with them to conduct an on-site visit to document the practices at the dentist’s office,” James Garrow, a spokesperson for the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, said. “It ends up being a lot of possibility of transfer of bodily fluids between patients.”
State health officials said they received complaints about possible unsanitary practices at Chopra’s clinic, called Smiles at Rittenhouse Square.
Pennsylvania’s Department of State temporarily suspended her license last week.
