George Roberts Coulter
OBITUARY
George Roberts Coulter(Rob), of Narberth, PA, was suddenly stricken with an internal hemorrhage and unexpectedly died on Sunday, April 26, 2026, while staying at the Coulter Cottage near Fleetville, PA.
He was born July 31, 1942, in Latrobe, PA, the son of the late George A. Coulter and Lydia Ann(Roberts) Coulter. He was a graduate of Latrobe High School’s Class of 1960 and had attended many fondly remembered class reunions. High school was where he began his long-lived enjoyment of playing tennis, including many years of going to adult tennis camp and joining like-minded friends on various courts. An avid fan of all things Penn State, he graduated with a BS in engineering and an MBA. He then embarked on a long, successful career with IBM that was interrupted in 1968 by the US Army which sent him to Panama as an intelligence analyst attached to the Green Berets. After his discharge from active service, he returned to his job as a systems analyst at IBM until retirement age. Being a fluent Spanish speaker was a useful asset in Panama and also in his duties at IBM as he had many business clients in Puerto Rico.
He loved visiting with friends and relatives especially during holidays when he would proudly relate the latest antics and accomplishments of his beloved niece and nephew, Dinah and Jonathan. He was said to excel at being a friend who was reliably eager to either help or join in the laughter or the tears. George enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and also took a safari through Kenya, ultimately leading to the creation of his favorite travel memory, which was of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro after training for the climb the year before.
George is survived by his sister, Cynthia Marcinik of Latrobe, niece Dinah Marcinik and fiance of Pittsburgh, nephew Jonathan Marcinik and wife, Carla, as well as their two children, Anna and Faith, his great-nieces, all of Shady Side, MD, a special uncle and dear friend, centenarian James O. Roberts of Lewes, DE, and numerous, wonderful cousins scattered to the four winds.
All services are private with interment in Unity Cemetery, Latrobe, PA. In charge of arrangements is the Corey Strauch Funeral Home & Pennsylvania Cremation Services, LLC, 602 Birch St., Scranton, PA 18505.
