An Allentown man is charged with attempted homicide after allegedly stabbing a 49-year-old woman multiple times Monday.
Police responded to a home on the 700 block of Saint John Street in south Allentown around 2:30 p.m. for a report of a stabbing, according to a news release from Capt. Jonathan Brubaker.
According to police, the stabbing resulted from a domestic incident. The woman who was stabbed was in critical but stable condition, Brubaker said Monday evening.
Police identified the man charged as Amir Whitehurst, 43. In addition to the attempted homicide charge, he faces additional charges of aggravated assault, possession of instruments of a crime, simple assault, reckless endangerment, and endangering the welfare of a child, police said.
Brubaker said no additional information about the incident would be released Monday night.
