A 20-year-old Erie man was killed Monday afternoon in a motorcycle crash in Summit Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
The crash happened around 1:15 p.m. on Edinboro Rd., south of Hershey Rd.
Investigators said a 39-year-old man from Spencer, New York, was driving a Volvo SUV north on Edinboro Rd. and tried to turn left into business when he crossed into the path of a motorcyclist.
The motorcycle, driven by Tyler Storicks, 20, of Erie, then hit the SUV.
Storicks was taken to UPMC Hamot, where he was pronounced dead. The man driving the SUV was not hurt.
State police said the investigation is ongoing.
Storicks had been a firefighter for Fairfield Hose Company, according to a post from the fire department on Facebook.
“Tyler was more than a firefighter,” the post said. “He was a brother, a friend, a nephew, a son, a grandson and a dedicated member of our fire service family who answered the call to serve his community with pride and compassion. His loss leaves an emptiness that words cannot fully express.
