On May 29 at 11:30 a.m. Governor Josh Shapiro and Mayor Daria Devlin will join alongside the owner and investors of The Trust Hotel will attend a groundbreaking ceremony for the hotel.
Held at 1001 State Street the ceremony will kick off a historic renovation of the Renaissance Centre office building into The Trust Hotel. Standing at 14 stories the historic landmark will be transformed into an upscale hotel with 195 rooms fit for a boutique hotel.
During the ceremony the community can view a rendering that will showcase the future vision for the property. The renovation will preserve and restore many of the original architecture making sure to honor the buildings legacy before beginning a new chapter.
The project is supported by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the City of Erie, the Erie County Redevelopment Authority, and Erie Insurance.
In the mezzanine space several murals painter by Edward Trumbull will be on display during the ceremony. These murals will be showcased in the building in efforts to preserve the spaces history.
