ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Police have released new details about Monday’s domestic stabbing, including a juvenile’s 911 call that alerted officers to the alleged attack.
Officers were dispatched around 2:34 p.m. to the 700 block of Saint John’s Street after a boy told dispatchers that “daddy stabbed mom,” according to the criminal complaint.

Police say when they entered the home, the 43‑year‑old Amir Whitehurst, immediately stated he would put his hands behind his back and was taken into custody. Police noted he a deep cut to his hand. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
At the top of the staircase, officers say they found the victim, a 49‑year‑old woman, suffering from severe stab wounds. She was rushed to the hospital in critical but stable condition, according to the criminal complaint.
Allentown police tell 69 News she is expected to survive, but they have no further updates on her condition.

Investigators interviewed the couple’s juvenile son, who was inside the home during the attack. Police say he told them he heard his parents arguing while he was playing video games. Moments later, he heard his mother screaming for help. The boy said he ran downstairs and saw Whitehurst repeatedly stab her with a large kitchen knife, according to authorities.
Police say the victim yelled for her son to call 911, and the child grabbed his phone, made the call, and ran from the home.
Whitehurst faces charges including attempted homicide, endangering the welfare of a child, and other related offenses.
He is being held without bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on June 3rd.
