BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Three projects in Northampton County have been approved for funding totaling $1,472,704 through the Main Street Matters program to support economic development and revitalization efforts in Bethlehem and Easton.
“Ensuring our main streets and neighborhoods surrounding our downtowns are vibrant economically, are providing housing opportunities and provide educational and recreational
opportunities that bring people to our downtowns is critical to our region,” State Senator Lisa Boscola stated in her funding announcement. “This nearly $1.5 million state investment into our main streets will promote projects that meet these goals.”
Main Street Matters projects that were approved in Northampton County, according to a press release from Boscola:
Bethlehem City, The Gateway on 4th, $1,000,000
Nurture Nature Center, Inc., The Nurture Nature Center Renovation, $395,502
Greater Easton Development Partnership, Mobile Digital Display System, $77,202
“Two years ago, I stood with Governor Shapiro here in the Lehigh Valley when he announced his 10-year economic development strategy, which included the Main Street Matters program,” Boscola added. “I have worked on and secured funding in the last few years for The Gateway on 4th, for The Nurture Nature Center and for programs run by the Greater Easton Development Partnership. These are important projects and this additional state funding will get them completed as soon as possible.”
Boscola noted specifically that she worked to secure Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) and Local Share Account funding for the Gateway on 4th project totaling $928,623 and RACP funding for The Nurture Nature Center in the amount of $500,000 in the past 18 months.
