The Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office and Ardella’s House are set to host a free community event in Strawberry Mansion this weekend aimed at connecting residents with local resources and services.
“Unity in the Community: A Sheriff’s Community Celebration – Building Bridges Across Our City” is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the 2400 block of North 33rd Street.
Organizers said the family-friendly event will include free food, live entertainment, giveaways and information from more than 50 participating organizations, including nonprofit groups, healthcare providers, public agencies and local businesses.
The free food giveaway is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. while supplies last. Entertainment will be provided by DJ M.C. Doug E.D.
According to organizers, participating groups will offer information and services related to health and wellness, behavioral health, youth development, housing support, financial literacy, education, family services and public safety.
“Unity in the Community reflects our belief that real public safety begins with trust, visibility, and direct access to resources that uplift families,” said Sheriff Rochelle Bilal in a statement. “Through partnerships like this with Ardella’s House and so many incredible organizations, we are building stronger bridges across our city and showing Philadelphians that we are here to serve beyond the badge.”
“The Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office is committed to being more than a law enforcement agency,” she added. “We are a community partner.”
Bilal said the event is part of the Sheriff’s Office’s broader community outreach efforts and its partnership with community organizations across Philadelphia.
The event is free and open to the public.
