Building on the momentum of its Diverse Erie initiative, the Sight Center recently hosted another discovery session for its Diabetes Prevention Program at the Booker T. Washington Center, continuing its commitment to improving community health and wellness.
The session brought together residents from across the area to learn more about preventing Type 2 diabetes and protecting long-term vision health—two issues that are closely linked. Through the program, participants are connected with valuable resources and lifestyle coaching designed to reduce their risk and promote healthier living.
Attendees received guidance on multiple aspects of diabetes, including how to prevent the condition, how to manage it if diagnosed, and how to adopt sustainable, healthy habits. Organizers emphasized the importance of early awareness, proper nutrition, physical activity, and consistent monitoring in lowering the risk of complications.
The Sight Center’s Diabetes Prevention Program is part of a broader effort to address health disparities in the Erie community while empowering residents with the tools and knowledge needed to take control of their health.
By hosting events like this discovery session, the organization continues to foster education, engagement, and proactive care—helping individuals lead healthier lives and safeguard their vision for the future.
