LEHIGH COUNTY, Pa. – A Lehigh County commissioner charged with more than 100 felonies appeared in court Thursday.
Investigators say Zach Cole-Borghi was one of 41 people arrested in connection with a multi-state drug ring.
Borghi waived his preliminary hearing Thursday morning.
Cole-Borghi had nothing to say as he entered and exited the Lehigh County Courthouse. The commissioner is currently out on bail.
He was arrested last August at Bethlehem City Hall, where he worked as a right-to-know officer.
Cole-Borghi is accused of conducting drug transactions from November of 2023 to August of last year.
According to investigators, he arranged a drug deal via text while he was at his kid’s birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese.
He’s also accused of facilitating a drug deal via text during a Lehigh County Commissioners meeting.
Arrests were made in connection to this alleged ring last year in Lehigh, Northampton, and Montgomery counties, Philadelphia, New York, Chicago and Wisconsin, according to the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office.
Cole-Borghi is set to appear in court for a formal arraignment in July.
