Gov. Josh Shapiro announced a $30 million plan on Thursday in Philadelphia to address traffic congestion and improve transportation access near the Philadelphia sports complex and Lower South Philadelphia region. “No matter what event you’re attending, there’s a whole lot of traffic,” Shapiro said. “Some of you may have had to take a gamble on whether or not to beat the worst of the traffic,” he added. The plan includes new smart traffic signals designed to reduce bottlenecks and improve safety, a westbound entrance ramp to I-76, a second left-turn lane from Front Street onto I-95 North, and a new event operations hub.
