The buzz: Lackawanna Trail is the District 2 champion for the fourth straight season. Lackawanna Trail averages 380.6 total yards and is coming off a win over Riverside, when it had 501 yards rushing. Nativity BVM lost to Marian Catholic, the No. 2 seed for the subregional, 41-14. Nativity BVM RB Colt Mason had a 60-yard touchdown, and Cole Felty had a 6-yard touchdown last week against Marian Catholic.

DISTRICT 2 CLASS 2A SEMIFINAL

4-Holy Redeemer (2-8) at 1-Lakeland (9-1)

When: Friday, 7 p.m.

Where: Lakeland Stadium.

Last: Lakeland, 69-29 (2022).

Up next: The winner advances to the championship game and will play the winner of the Dunmore at Riverside semifinal.

The buzz: This is the second time in the last four years the teams will meet in the District 2 Class 2A quarterfinals. Lakeland recovered from winning just 4 of 21 games in 2023 and 2024. Lakeland averages 372.4 yards per game and is giving up 219.1 total yards per game. Holy Redeemer has wins over Susquehanna, 27-20, and Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech, 38-12, this season.

DISTRICT 2 CLASS 3A SEMIFINAL

3-Scranton Prep (5-5) at 2-Wyoming Area (9-1)

When: Friday, 7 p.m.

Where: Jake Sobeski Stadium.

Last: Scranton Prep, 28-6 (2024).

The buzz: Scranton Prep won four straight District 2 Class 3A championships. This is the Cavalier’s first road playoff game since 2019. Scranton Prep won eight of the last 10 meetings in the series. Scranton Prep had the second-ranked offense in the LFC Division I at 357.2 total yards per game. Wyoming Area averages 363.9 total yards and gives up 216.3 total yards. Wyoming Area RB Nick Ciampi leads the team in rushing with 880 yards and 13 touchdowns, QB Jack Gravine has 1,049 yards passing and 15 touchdowns. WR Luke Kopetchny has 24 receptions for 574 yards and 11 touchdowns.

DISTRICT 2 CLASS 4A SEMIFINAL

4-Crestwood (5-5) at 1-North Pocono (10-0)

When: Friday, 7 p.m.

Where: North Pocono Trojans Stadium.

Last: North Pocono, 27-10 (2023).

The buzz: Crestwood won four of the last six in the series. North Pocono is 10-0 for the first time since 1991. North Pocono had the No. 1 defense in the LFC Division I, giving up 216.3 total yards per game, while the offense averaged 349.2 total yards per game. Crestwood averages 325.3 total yards per game and gives up 235.3. Crestwood RB Jacob Jeckell has run for 518 yards and three touchdowns, and QB Jaden Shedlock has 470 yards rushing and nine touchdowns, and 1,079 yards passing and 13 touchdowns this season. Crestwood lost to Valley View, 24-13, in its only game against an LFC opponent.

DISTRICT 2 CLASS 4A SEMIFINAL

3-Dallas (5-5) at 2-Vallwey View (6-4)

Where: John Henzes/Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Last: Valley View, 41-14 (2024).

The buzz: Valley View defeated Dallas in last season’s District 2 Class 4A championship game. The Cougars won six of nine meetings since 2011. Valley View averages 256.7 total yards per game and gives up 261.4. Dallas rallied with four straight wins after a loss to North Pocono to reach the district playoffs. Dallas averages 273.1 total yards per game and gives up 307.8 total yards per game. Dallas lost to Abington Heights, 40-28, and North Pocono, 35-14, in its games against LFC opponents.

DISTRICT 2 CLASS 5A SEMIFINAL

3-Delaware Valley (5-5) at 2-Pittston Area (8-2)

Where: Charley Trippi Stadium.

Last: Delaware Valley, 38-15 (2024).

The buzz: The teams met in last season’s Class 5A semifinals, with the Warriors winning. Delaware Valley won three straight against the Patriots. Delaware Valley led LFC Division I with an offense that averages 394.5 points per game. Pittston Area averages 340.9 total yards per game and gives up 285.5 total yards per game in coach Paul Russick’s first season. Pittston Area RB Brody Spindler has 935 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns, QB Paulie Ferentino has 926 yards passing and WR Lucas LoPreston has 38 receptions for 528 yards and four touchdowns.

4-Wyoming Valley West (1-9) at 1-Abington Heights (8-2)

The buzz: The teams met in last season’s District 2 Class 5A semifinals. Wyoming Valley West won nine of the previous 16 meetings in the series. Abington Heights averages 348.7 total yards per game and gives up 254.8 total yards per game. The Comets won four straight games, all over playoff teams, and are averaging 35.3 points per game. Wyoming Valley West averages 246.3 total yards and gives up 365.9 total yards per game this season. Wyoming Valley West lost to Scranton, 45-7, and Valley View, 52-21, in games against LFC opponents.

DISTRICT 2-4 CLASS 6A SUBREGIONAL SEMIFINAL

3-Scranton (2-8) at 2-Williamsport (5-5)

The buzz: Scranton has lost six straight. Scranton defeated Wyoming Valley West, 45-7, and went 0-2 against Pocono Mountain West and Pocono Mountain East in its other nonconference games. Scranton is averaging 236.4 total yards per game and is giving up 318.8 total yards per game. Williamsport went 3-1 against District 2 opponents this season, including a 28-21 win over top-seeded Wilkes-Barre Area. Williamsport QB Tevin Williams ran for 76 yards and a touchdown, and threw for 240 yards and three touchdowns last week against Wilkes-Barre Area.

Easter Conference Class 3A Championship

Mid Valley (4-6) at Carbondale Area (6-4)

Where: Andrew J. Cerra Athletic Complex.

Last: Mid Valley, 47-20 (2021).

The buzz: Mid Valley won six of the last 11 meetings. Mid Valley averages 280.7 total yards per game and gives up 320,7 total yards per game. Carbondale Area, which competes in the LFC Division III, averages 225.5 total yards and gives up 237.4 total yards per game. Carbondale Area won its last two games to qualify for the Eastern Conference game.

Eastern Conference Class 1A/2A Championship

Holy Cross (3-7) at Upper Dauphin (4-6)

When: Friday, 7 p.m.

Where: Upper Dauphin Stadium.

Last: First meeting.

The buzz: This is the second straight season that Holy Cross isin  playing the Eastern Conference Class 1A/2A game. Last season, Holy Cross lost to Old Forge in the EC game. Holy Cross averages 248.1 total yards per game and gives up 251.1 total yards per game. Upper Dauphin QB Landen Osenga has 555 yards passing and 10 touchdowns. RB Carter Dreibelbis has 1,224 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns this season.
