WYOMISSING, Pa. – Some say parking availability is at a premium in part of Wyomissing.
“It probably won’t be, and I’m worried about my scooter,” said Tony Matz.
Scooter space or otherwise, the question in Wyomissing involves the current parking lot at 915 Penn Ave.
Wyomissing Borough told 69 News in a statement that its council didn’t precisely follow the public notice procedure before voting to approve a conditional use application for the space and a planned 30-unit apartment complex.
“Because in our society with our governance that’s the way things operate,” Matz said.
Neighbors say they like the growth.
“Around here, I think they’re doing good job of putting a lot of businesses and good places to eat around here,” said Imani Brown, who lives in Wyomissing.
But at what cost?
“Right now, it seems to be doing good as far as what’s going on here, but as it grows, I think it will be an issue. If they change this lot, it will definitely minimize the parking in this area,” Brown said.
“If it goes though the channels properly, what can I say? I could be against it, but I don’t think so,” Matz said.
So this is ultimately about procedure and parking.
“I think that will definitely cause an issue around here, especially these places that have parking right out front. A lot of the pick-up places cause a lot of traffic along here,” Matz said.
