Breast cancer survivors and medical professionals took to the runway during Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County’s 11th Annual Pink Passion for Fashion fundraiser.
Themed “Glitz & Glamour,” the event May 17 at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Reading featured 22 models, including 17 local breast cancer survivors and five medical professionals who were nominated by survivors, said Michele M. Reinert, executive director of the nonprofit.
The annual event, the largest fundraiser for the organization, brought together survivors, medical professionals, supporters and community members for an afternoon celebrating strength, resilience and hope, Reinert said.

This year’s show featured looks provided by local retailers and raised more than $125,000 to support programs, services and resources provided free of charge to breast cancer survivors, family members and caregivers in Berks, she said.
Guests also enjoyed lunch, a silent auction, a Wheelbarrow of Cheer raffle, VIP travel experiences and a live Fund-in-Need auction, she said.
Reinert said participants modeled styles reflecting confidence and the new normal many survivors embrace following a breast cancer diagnosis.
More than 300 women in Berks are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, she said, noting many turn to the nonprofit for support, education and encouragement throughout their journey.
Since its founding in 1994, the organization has served more than 12,000 local families through support groups, educational workshops, Comfort Bags and other supportive services designed to provide hope and connection to those affected by breast cancer.
