The Cold Case Unit consists of the Erie Police Department, The Erie District Attorney’s office and Pennsylvania Police.
They are seeking the public’s assistance in two rape investigations that occurred in 2012 and 2015.
Lt. Craig Stoker of Major Crimes and Corporal Mark Olowin are leading investigation.
The first investigation goes back to January 6, 2012.
It was just after 9:00 pm in the 400 block of West 38th Street in Erie.
A female was walking westbound when she physically and sexually assaulted by an unknown male.
A witness later discovered the victim near a ravine at West 38th & Glenwood Park.
The suspect fled.
Police put out a description of the suspect.
Black Male.
5’7 to 5’10”.
Late 20’s to early 30’s.
Thin to medium build.
Deep voice.
A second assault took place on June 21, 2015, at 11:50 pm at the 13th and Peach Street underpass in Erie.
The female victim was walking through the underpass when she passed a male who slowed as she walked by.
After exiting the underpass, she was grabbed from behind, sexually assaulted and dragged up the hill to a grassy
area above the overpass.
Police also released a description of that suspect.
A Black Male.
Late 30’s to early 40’s.
Tall. slightly chubby build.
Brown eyes.
Deep voice.
Police have submitted DNA evidence in both cases and are attempting to use Forensic Genealogy to identify the
suspect of suspects.
