Millcreek Township School District is announcing major leadership changes at the high school level. District leaders say the move is meant to streamline operations and strengthen consistency across the McDowell campus. Tonight, M‑T‑S‑D is outlining what this restructuring means for students, staff, and families.
McDowell High School in Millcreek Township is undergoing a full rebrand.
I spoke with the superintendent that confirmed the change. As part of the next steps, the district has named Scott Quivey as principal of the newly combined McDowell campus.
“talking about it for years since I was a principal of that building when I thought of how you could unify McDowell, what is currently known, but intermediate more as one building and that’s what the vision is,” John Cavanagh, Millcreek Township Superintendent explains.
“I’m outside the Millcreek Education Center, where district leaders tell me this transition is already in motion. They say the priority now is keeping students and staff supported while they determine who will step into the role next,” Stephanie Logue reported.
The district will be adding an associate principal and four assistant principals. The associate principal position will be posted and filled by July.
District leaders say these changes are designed to create a more cohesive experience for students and staff.
“when you had two different principals and two different buildings, as much as you wanted everybody on the same page all the time, different people have different leadership styles, and to avoid that we’re now gonna have one common voice at the top, the associate principal, and then still the assistants, so the same number of administrators in the building, but one person at the top making the final decision so you have that unified voice that we’re now calling McDowell High School,” Cavanagh expressed.
