Recently around 50 banners honoring local veterans had been installed throughout the Erie and Millcreek area. Following the installation of these banners several community members expressed interest in ordering one of these banners for a veteran in their lives.
In response the Hometown Heroes have decided to extend the deadline for these banners until June 12. The cost of a banner is $135, and each will remain on display for two years.
After that period, the banner will be carefully removed and returned to the individual who nominated the veteran. Placement of all banners is coordinated by the Kiwanis Club of the Millcreek Area. The banners will now be available for purchase online here.
The Hometown Heroes banner program continues to honor the service and sacrifice of veterans from the city of Erie and Millcreek Township. Created as a tribute to those who are currently serving, have served or have given their lives in the United States Armed Forces.
Banners will be displayed along State Street in Erie and West 8th Street in Millcreek, serving as visible reminders of local heroes.
Each 24-by-48-inch banner is double-sided, full color and customized with the veteran’s name, branch of service, service dates and a photo if provided.
