13 Days Until Big Boy 4014: Scranton’s Other Big Boy Has Been Waiting 40 Years

FOX56 Countdown to Big Boy

Big Boy 4014 arrives at Steamtown in Scranton on June 13. Each day until then, we’re sharing a fascinating fact about the world’s largest operating steam locomotive.

When 4014 arrives at Steamtown, it will meet sister locomotive Big Boy 4012.

While 4014 is the world’s only operating Big Boy, 4012 has quietly called Scranton home for decades. For many visitors, this will be the first opportunity to stand between two Big Boys and compare them side-by-side.

Only eight Big Boys survive today. Two will soon be in the same place.
